Life update

So nothing really exciting happens in my life, since I got married anyway. So I haven't kept up on my blog. Both Landon and I have just been working, mostly him though. He works all the time from his shop at home. There are so many cars and parts and stuff I feel like I live in a junkyard! But he says it will all be gone someday. There's just a lot to do! We've been progressivly working on our little makeshift "house" and have done about as much as we can do. We painted the outside and Landon even let me paint the door trim bright pink! I love it! And we are planning on adding a room sometime this summer, which will give us a small living room so we have a space to sit down! That will be exciting! Headstart doesn't run through the summer, so I got a summer job working at Lowe's as a cashier. It's not too bad, and I think I'll stay there after the summer is over and just work part time when I'm not working at Headstart. I think that's about it though. Oh, we got a little pool, its 12 feet across and 30 inches deep. And we have been having the most fantastic Alaska summer ever! It's been warm (hot sometimes) and sunny for weeks! The pool has been great fun with my sister and my nephew! And today I went to my 10 year high school reunion! I feel old! It wasn't that great, actually. Not many people came and it was mostly the "popular" crowd that all hung out together, but I did see a few old friends and that was fun. Now it's time to get back to work, the rest of the summer will probably just be work. We are taking a few days off for Landon's twin brothers wedding in August! That should be a good break and mini vacation! That's it for now!

Lots has happened!

Ok so it's been forever it seems like since I posted anything! I got married! February 7, 2009 actually happened, and everything went fantastically! It was a lot of stress and craziness and tears until that day. I kept letting other people talk me into changing what I pictured in my head for my wedding day. I had the bridesmaids outfits all picked out and changed my ideas. But my mother-in-law made the skirts and they turned out good. We couldn't find tops though! We went through so many and finally just bought cute white t-shirts at Walmart the day before! But it was fine! And Melissa Adamson came up for the wedding so I made her my maid of honor at the last minute. It was great having her here for a few days! The cake was beautiful, my dress fit perfectly after I had it altered, my hair turned out better than I thought it would, thanks to Maud Martorell, she's amazing! I had so many people help get it all together and it was great! The wedding day went so smoothly! We got everything pretty much set up the night before, and had people come help with the food that day, so I didn't even have to worry about it! Tons of people came, more than I expected and though we didn't run out of food, we did run out of plates and punch! It all worked out ok though and it was fun! Didn't quite get all the pictures I wanted but I didn't want to keep people waiting and the music didn't work out how I wanted it to, but we had music and a few people danced! It really went well and I was very happy! We spent the weekend at a hotel and then it was back to work, but it was nice. Someday I hope we get to take a real trip. Now life is settling down. I just work everyday while Landon works at home. I think he works too much, and its hard having him work at home because I know he's there and want him to be spending time with me, but he has to get cars finished! But we fixed up our tiny "house"and its so cute, but crowded. I'm hoping to expand it at least a little bit sometime soon. So, I think that's my life up to date! Summer is coming and I have to find a summer job (bummer) but I'm loving the sun and the warmer weather!

Wedding Plans

So I thought I had my wedding planned long before Landon and I got engaged, it was all in my head....I was wrong! There is so much more than I thought, just tons of little things I never thought about! But it's coming along. The date is set for Feb. 7, 2009! That is our 10 month anniversary. I thought that keeping the date on the 7th of the month would make it easier for Landon, since he already has that day engrained into his mind! We are getting married at the LDS church in Palmer, Ak, the one where I grew up going to church. My mom also married my stepdad there. My colors are purple and black, my sisters are my bridesmaids, except Megan, she lives in Florida and won't make it. I have my dress, and it fits! I love it! We have clothes for bridesmaids and groomsmen. I almost have a plan for decorating the gym and tables. Food....nachos and 6 foot sub sandwiches! That was Landon's idea and I want to make sure he has input in the wedding too.....actually a lot of stuff is his idea. So those are the basic plans so far. I'm ready to go get my invites printed. Tomorrow is a big shopping day for me and my mom in Anchorage so I should get a lot done then. That's about it for updates. Other than that, I've been enjoying my Christmas break, hanging out lots at my mom's house. It's been so cold here (like -20 everyday) so we just stay inside. I'm stressed, but excited, and not ready to go back to work on Monday, but that's life. And life is good...

Engagement....finally!

Ok so it finally happened! I'm engaged! Today we have been dating for exactly 8 months, so I guess it hasn't been that long, but I've been waiting for it for awhile. I've known it's been coming because I knew he had the ring. My ring, which I love, belonged to Landon's grandmother. When we were looking at rings a few months ago his mom mentioned I could have it if I wanted it. It was love at first sight and was exactly what I'd been looking for. So he got it, had it resized, cleaned, replated in white gold...all that good stuff. And I knew it was done, so I was just waiting (impatiently) for the proposal. So this morning, I was awoken with a question....will you come help me make breakfast? Not exactly what I wanted to do, but then I saw the dozen red roses and gift and card. It is our 8 month anniversary, so this was not an unusual thing to see. When I opened the gift I pulled out a stuffed penguin (I love penguins!) that was actually a gift card holder. Inside the little pocket where a gift card should be was a note that said "Will you marry me Katie" I have to admit I thought it was a joke at first. Then I looked at him, and knew he was serious. So I said yes! Then he told me to look closer and I saw my ring tied around the penguins neck. So I told him he would have to take it off and ask me for real (I was crying by this time) so he did! And then he put the ring on my finger and it is just perfect! Then he made me breakfast, and it was delicious! So that is my proposal story! Not exactly the huge romantic proposal I was kinda hoping for, but it was cute. And now I no longer have a boyfriend, I have a fiance! No plans other than the ones in my head. We have to pick a date then I will start planning and keeping this updated with what is going on. I'm actually thinking the wedding will be happening at the end of next month, kinda fast, but I'm excited! Ok, that's it for now....there is so much to do!

New Stuff

So, a few things that have been happening lately.....I got a new puppy! That's my biggest news. She is a 6 month old black lab named Sierra and she is a handful! She seemed so good at first...ok she's still good and so sweet and cute and fun, but she's a puppy. Her favorite things to do are chew things up (mostly paper from the trash) bury her bones in random places and wander off. But she also loves to cuddle at night (she's a bed hog) and play fetch (she even brings the ball back sometimes) and rough house with my boyfriend, Landon. It's actually a lot of fun having her, and a lot of work too.

In other news, I am, at the moment, spending a week in Provo, Utah. I got here yesterday and have had so much fun already. It is great to be back where I spent 5 years of my life, visiting old friends and roommates, going to my favorite places. It's hot though. I just don't remember it being 80 degrees at the end of September. And it was in the 40's in AK, so a big change for me. It is so great to get a break from the cold and rain, though. I have plans to eat at all my favorite places, do tons of shopping, and just hang out with friends. We went miniature golfing tonight (we don't have that in AK) and it was a blast! A first for my friend Savannah Steele, hope she had fun!

No other updates on life right now, though I know I'm pretty much updating myself and no one else. Maybe someday I'll get into this blogging thing and people will actually read it! Hopes for future posts....me getting engaged (I'm kinda pushing my boyfriend for this, but we'll see how long it takes)! I'll for sure write about that when it happens, and it will be fantastic!

Getting started

I figured I would join the world of blogging and try this out. I know there are lots of upcoming events and changes in my life, so I may as well keep track of them all here. This is a first for me, but we'll see how it goes.
